Software EngineerThis position reports to the Director of Program Services.
Position Summary:
This person is responsible for major software development/modification efforts and assists other Software Engineers in resolving technical issues. This person also performs technical analysis, prepares detailed technical specifications, is proficient in a wide variety of languages, operating systems and tools, and works with little or no supervision.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provides leadership in guiding McCamish and client team members to successful development conclusion
- Demonstrates the ability to plan, organize and document development activities
- Performs technical analysis, prepares detailed technical specifications, formulates development plans and integrates various disciplines to achieve assigned goals
- Monitors project schedules, identifies potential project variations and reacts to keep project on time and within budget
- Communicates with McCamish management regarding project status, identifies potential issues that may impact project success
- Ensures that McCamish Systems development and documentation standards are followed
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Degree in computer science, information systems, business management or related field preferred
- Seven years of software development experience in a UNIX, Linux, or Windows environment
- Five years of experience in a 4GL environment
- Ability to provide leadership, build and direct teams, schedule and track multidisciplinary activities, resolve conflicts, and interface with corporate team members at all levels
- Ability to direct concurrent activities
- Solid understanding of budget and accounting principals
- Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience in insurance, annuities or mutual funds
