Consulting Business Analyst

This position reports to the Manager of Business Analysis.

Position Summary:

This person serves as a lead expert in providing complex business and processing expertise and guidance for McCamish products, and relies on extensive experience and judgment to ensure that we make the right decisions regarding our product and functionality offerings, both presently and in the future. This person also provides expert guidance on product development for any or all VPAS® Product Development Teams, including Client Implementation Teams, Internal Clients, Client Services Teams and the Steering Committee, and has extensive expertise in application of knowledge regarding financial instruments, which include, but are not limited to annuities, life insurance, corporate insurance markets, defined contribution plan administration, and corporate non-qualified benefit plans.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Leads, delegates and assists the product development analysis team in the project life cycle, including both Business Analyst and Quality Assurance functions
  • Analyzes and provides expert direction for product modification requests funneled through the Steering Committee, the external client base, or the internal BPO client
  • Provides expert analytical and industry expertise during whiteboard discussions for both the product development efforts and the client implementation efforts
  • Partners with technical and business resources in designing, developing, modifying and documenting manual and automated processes
  • Performs all standard Business Analyst functions under established methodologies provided by the Business Analyst Affinity Group, such as:

    - Estimate and scope development
    - Whiteboards
    - Business specifications
    - Walkthroughs
    - Client approvals
    - Support during technical development
    - Functional and Model Office Test Plans and Design
    - Functional and Model Office Testing
    - Release note development
    - Training and documentation support

  • Assists client teams with Pre-Implementation Study Questions regarding the product system functionality
  • Assists Sales and Marketing with RFP questions regarding the product system functionality and McCamish development processes and methodologies
  • Communicates all system changes and issues to both business sponsors and IT staff

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Ten plus years in the insurance, annuity or mutual funds industries
  • Five plus years of experience with McCamish Systems or related products
  • In-depth knowledge of the annuity/variable product administration, corporate insurance and/or defined contribution administration industries
  • Excellent skills in project management
  • Strong leadership skills with the proven ability to lead and direct multi-level teams
    Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to handle multiple aspects of projects simultaneously, as well as multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to utilize creativity and broad focus when arriving at solutions to new design challenges
