Business Analyst

This position reports to the Client Development Manager.

Position Summary:

This person serves as an expert in providing complex business and processing expertise for McCamish products. This person also has specific expertise regarding variable annuities, variable life, corporate insurance markets, defined contribution plan administration, corporate non-qualified benefit plans, and assists in providing expert guidance on new product development to prospective clients and internal resources

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Performs a lead analysis role in providing system and industry expertise during procurement and formulation of client's system and design requirements
• Gathers and defines the end user's business requirements
• Provides estimates for system enhancements based on the client's business needs
• Provides analytical expertise during design whiteboards
• Develops detailed business scope and business specification documents for more complex system enhancements
• Documents, performs and validates unit/functional testing
• Supports the analysis, technical and quality assurance members of the project team
• Performs internal and external walkthroughs of business specification documents
  Develops test plan, test design, and test case documents
• Performs internal and external walkthroughs of testing documents
• Performs regression, system, functional, usability and integration testing
• Validates expected results and provides output for internal and external client sign-off
• Supports model office and user acceptance testing
• Defines and reports testing issues and supports re-testing efforts
• Directs methodology and design of business and system functionality. Leads a design subgroup providing specialized and highly complex systems design.
• Maintains and modifies complex systems or develops new subsystems
• Handles multiple aspects of project(s) simultaneously
• Demonstrates project management and leadership skills when interacting with project team. Accepts responsibility for all aspects of project implementation
• Develops an awareness of project deliveries and understands financial aspects of project overruns
• Acts as mentor within the department using advanced interpersonal skills. Responsible for providing leadership and direction and coaches junior members of the department.
• Routinely addresses critical problems, researches complex problems and resolves them through development of specialized solutions
• Coordinates testing among multiple team members, assumes responsibility for unit testing, and remains apprised of any testing issues throughout the project life cycle
• Leads the development of documentation and training materials. Routinely provides training to internal and external clients.
• Troubleshooting as required
  

Education/Experience Requirements:

• Six plus years in the insurance, annuity, or mutual funds industries and/or three plus years experience with McCamish Systems or related products
• In-depth knowledge of the annuity/variable product administration, corporate insurance and/or defined contribution administration industries
• Excellent skills in project management
• Ability to work independently with little or no direction
